Launched on April 22, 2024, the Eternal Mongolia PFP seeks to protect 14.4 million hectares of grasslands, expanding its national protected area system to meet its “30 by 30” commitment; enhance management effectiveness across 46.92 million hectares of existing protected areas by 2035; and support 24,000 households through community-based natural resource management across 34 million hectares of priority landscapes beyond the protected network.
In its first year, the project prioritized building the systems and structures essential for lasting conservation and community prosperity – including a sustainable finance architecture, inclusive engagement, transparent and accountable governance, government coordination and policy alignment, nature-positive financial innovation, and sector-wide convening and learning.
