Side Event: Partnerships for Ocean Action

The Immersed In Change High Level Conference will be hosted by the government of Costa Rica in San José, on 7-8 June 2024.

The conference will convene all stewards of the environment, as a platform for the exchange of best practices related to ocean governance and health, and the implementation of national, regional, and global solutions in an inclusive manner. Panels will focus on 8 key themes: Fishing Resources, Ghost fishing gear, Blue economy, Satellite technology, Ocean cleanup technologies, Marine plastic pollution, Implementation of global agreements, and Financial mechanisms.

The Immersed in Change conference will support preparations for the 2025 United Nations Ocean Conference, that will be co-hosted by Costa Rica and France.

On Friday June 7, 2024, at 8:00-9:00am, Enduring Earth and the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People will host an official side event in the Snapper Room of the Costa Rica Convention Center

A panel of ocean experts will share insights and reflections on local, national, and regional actions to deliver the 30×30 goal of The Biodiversity Plan and sustainably finance ocean conservation.

Eugenia Montezuma, National Focal Point of the Convention on Biological Diversity, Costa Rica

Kathleen Fitzgerald, Project Director for Enduring Earth, The Pew Charitable Trusts

Closing remarks, Carlos Manual Rodriguez, CEO and Chairperson of the Global Environment Facility

Moderator, Jason Dozier, Senior Program Officer on Political Mobilization within the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People Secretariat
